The order at the counter
Request, then booking, then active rental after release, then drop-off. The deposit status sits on that booking.
What problem this solves
Calling everything a booking hides whether the customer has picked up and whether the security deposit is still open.
Why the alternative is insufficient
A single status word cannot carry the dates, the payment, and the deposit outcome at once.
How Kasura handles it
Staff can say which record they are looking at: request, booking, active rental, or closed drop-off, plus whether payment and the security deposit are still open.
What this does not mean
Marking a payment or a deposit does not move money, and release is not the same word as check-in.
