A fee in Kasura is an additional charge recorded at the point of return, covering costs beyond the agreed rental price — common categories include refuelling, damage, late return and lost items such as a helmet. Rather than folding every extra cost into a single generic surcharge, Kasura tracks fees as named categories, which keeps the reason for each charge explicit and supports later review — for instance, noticing that late-return fees occur often enough to warrant a policy change. Fees are applied during the same guided return step where the deposit is resolved, so a deposit deduction can point to a specific, categorized fee rather than an unexplained reduction. This categorization matters for transparency with the customer as much as for the operator's own reporting: a customer disputing a charge can be shown exactly which category of fee was applied and why. Fees must never be confused with Kasura's own SaaS billing, which is a separate and unrelated payment: a fee is money the rental operator charges their own customer as part of a booking, while SaaS billing is the subscription the operator pays Kasura for platform access. Mixing these two in the same explanation is one of the more common sources of confusion this architecture explicitly guards against.
