Fast Track

Fast Track is the option to complete a vehicle return quickly when nothing is wrong, skipping the detailed condition and fee fields.

In Kasura

Fast Track is a shortened path within the vehicle return process, letting staff complete a return quickly when nothing appears wrong, skipping the detailed condition and fee fields that the full return path still requires. It exists because the distribution of returns is asymmetric: the large majority are uneventful, while only a minority require full documentation. A single process designed for the exceptional case penalizes the normal case every single time it runs — and worse, staff who fill in fields that almost always carry the same value tend to do so mechanically, which erodes the value of exactly the fields that matter in the exceptional case. Fast Track is deliberately not an automated damage assessment and does not involve any system-driven detection: it is a choice the staff member makes, based on their own visual inspection, that nothing is wrong. The full detailed return path — odometer, fuel level, condition notes, photos, named fees, deposit resolution with a reason — remains available at all times and is used whenever damage, a fee, or any deviation from the expected condition is present. Fast Track is one of the clearest examples in the product of a deliberate interface decision made for operational reasons rather than as a shortcut that reduces what the product can do: it changes how quickly the normal case is handled without removing any capability from the exceptional case.

Not to be confused with

That Fast Track is an automated damage assessment; it is a manual staff choice, and the detailed path remains available at any time.

Why this exists

Fast Track exists because most returns are uneventful, and forcing every return through the full detail process costs staff time and produces carelessly filled fields.
